The Christmas movie sequel that has been in the making for almost 40 years

A few weeks ago, one of the most classic Christmas movies, A Christmas Story, was given a GOOD sequel. A Christmas Story Christmas. This movie is a direct sequel to the Christmas classic, A Christmas Story. A Christmas Story is based on the humorous writings of author Jean Shepherd.

This beloved holiday movie follows the wintry exploits of youngster Ralphie Parker, who spends most of his time dodging two bullies, Scut Farkus and Grover Dill, and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder air rifle.” Frequently at odds with his cranky, furnace-fighting dad but comforted by his doting mother, Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and hopes intact.

There has been another sequel to this movie, A Christmas Story 2. Made a decade ago and riddled with multiple plot holes and humor that did not work at all, and none of the original cast was interested in doing this movie because they did not like the script. What was then the original sequel for A Christmas Story is now another forgetful holiday movie we leave on the shelf.

This new sequel takes place 30 years later and Follows the now-adult Ralphie as he returns to Hohman, Indiana, and the house on Cleveland Street to give his kids a magical Christmas like the one he had as a child, reconnecting with childhood buddies Flick and Schwartz. While also trying to write a manuscript to get his shot at being a writer. This movie is beautiful and nostalgia-based.

Where the first movie discovers the joy of being a kid during Christmas, this movie displays the hardships of being a parent during Christmas. With almost all cast members from the original film returning in this film, this should be on the list of movies you’ll be watching during Christmas time and is available now on HBO Max.
